CLASSES & COACHING

Writing things about upcoming classes is always difficult for me.

On the one hand, its necessary and obviously so but on the other hand, its feels boastful and weird.
“Hey, study with me and you get great information for your career AND this gorgeous set of all steel steak knives...”…

blech.

I don’t trust teachers who present themselves as the know all, end-all of what you need for your career.

I should just stop writing now and have a shot of tequila.

But I wont, so here goes:

 AUDITION THEORY

As anyone who has taken this course can attest, my Audition Theory class is difficult to describe.    I can tell you what it’s not

It’s not an on-camera class and it’s not always about acting… but for some reason, it has grown to be my most popular class.

It’s about the Art of Auditioning… how to navigate the world of auditions so you don’t lose your creativity and your self-esteem… and hopefully not your apartment!

For many years, in addition to my on-set work, I helped actors privately, coaching them for auditions. And in that process, I began to notice that something would get lost between the actor leaving our session and when they arrived to do their work… and I didn’t like it!

So, I decided to take to a deeper dive into the art of auditioning.

I accompanied actors to their auditions, just so I could sit in those hallways and figure out where their energy was getting lost.

I interviewed casting directors, directors, and producers, and then actors… those who believed they were crappy auditioners, and those who seemed to know their way around an audition.

Eventually, I formulated a six-step process called Audition Theory that has, by all reports, helped people.

And, at the end of the day , if we are not here to help each other, I am not sure the world makes any sense at all.

Audition Theory is a process designed to help you maintain interest in your own work, remain creative, and use all of the information of your life to bring you to the world of your auditions.

So… if I haven’t scared you off or even if I have… come on over and let’s do this.

 SCENE STUDY

I don’t give a shit if you do a great scene in my Scene Study class. What I do care about is whether or not you leave my class knowing yourself better as an Artist.

My Actors do brilliant scene work all the time but that’s not their goal. The goals I teach are being present, being a fantastic listener, trusting connection, and allowing a great story to be brought out of you. A GREAT story.

BOTTOM LINE:

Don't study with me if you want to hear a teacher talk about her famous students. I would never be so careless.

Don't study with me if you want to be beaten senseless for not doing a scene correctly.

Don't study with me if you need hugs and kisses.

Study with me if I make sense to you.

Period.
